Actuator Alpha

Typical length of the actuator arms for disk drives and how hot they are?
I am doing a research paper on hard drives and need assistance in finding an approximate duration of an actuator arm of a stepping motor. So how these do get hot stepper motors? I need all the information causes must be able to calculate the variation in length using the equation Alpha x L = length of x (Change) Temp.
I do not know the heat, but in terms of size, shape actuator arm must be able to find rings Concentric (title) on the disc surface. It's like a bowl of DJ's playing a recording. Typical hard disk sizes (in terms of diameter the flat disk (s)) currently in use are 3.5 "desktop and 2.5" for laptops. There are also some in form factor micro whose dishes are Compact Flash 1.8 "I believe. I suppose the question that attempts to answer, thus the length of the arm carrying the read / write head temperature change, affecting the head when placed on the dish ... control algorithm should realize that if you need a very precise positioning (for a greater density of the media). I have no idea if the units do this or not - it also means a sensor very precise temperature.
